The Graphic Update is here
The graphic update is here!
I updated most of the graphics of the game. I also redid the main menu and added a level selection menu.
The update also contains some new levels to play, ready to make you rage.
Here's a list of notable changes and additions:
- Most of the sprites have been updated
- Added a parallax background (it is a placeholder and I'd like to do it better in the future)
- Added a new BGM during gameplay, made by me
- Redid the main menu
- Added 4 levels (11 total now)
- Changed the jumping mechanic: now the jump is higher if you hold the jump button
- Added a keybind for Left Mouse Button (throw the die) and Right Mouse Button (kick the die)
- Changed how the tutorial is displayed
- Added moving zappers
- Some switches now can be activated just by pressing them
- Added moving platforms (sometimes can be a bit buggy, trying to fix and polish the behaviour)
- The red die can now be picked up after being thrown. It still explodes after a couple of seconds
- Added green springs (they are not for you!)
- A die won't explode on contact with a switch now
- Level 5 is now significantly easier
- Many bug fixes
- More that I probably don't recall at the moment
Sadly this time I didn't have many playtesters and couldn't test as much stuff as I wanted to. So there might be some bugs that I missed. If you find anything that's not in the known issues list, let me know and I'll try to fix it.
What's next for Super Dice Boy
Honestly, the game doesn't seem to attract many people. I don't know if it's because it's not polished, not fun or i'm just bad at "marketing" my game. Still, it's hard to work on something without many feedback and without knowing if you're on the right track or not.
I plan to fix some more bugs and add some more levels, but I doubt I'll update the game after that, unless it picks up some interest and people wants me to update it of course. So this might be one of the last devlogs for Super Dice Boy.
I'm still happy of how the game did during the jam and I'm proud I did something, no matter how small or buggy!
