Postjam Devlog (Ranking and what to expect)


The results for the Wowie Jam 4 are out and i'm beyond surprised.

I tought that I'd get maybe in the top 500 or something like that, instead CU-T3 got #49!!!

Not only that, it got ranked #6 for the On Topic category. Happy doesn't even begin to describe my feelings.

So... let's get to it as we did for Super Dice Boy.

What's Next for CU-T3

With Super Dice Boy I had a lot of free time after and during the jam to update it and release an early post jam update. Sadly it wasn't the case this time and real life is taking me away for a while, so it will be hard to work on a post jam update for a couple of weeks.

But after that, I should have plenty of time to start working on it. And also being a story game, being away from the desk won't block me from developing the story on paper. But I plan to release an update as soon as possible. 

Here's what to expect for the first update (not promised but that's what i wish to inlcude):

  • Fixing all the reported bugs during the jam
  • Add some missing sprites (like the rising platforms)
  • Add some more sprites to decorate the levels
  • More level backgrounds to break the monotony
  • Skippable cutscenes (i'm torn on this one but it is needed)
  • Actually scatter the floppy disks around the levels instead of just standing near the computer
  • Adding another chapter of the story, where you will save another of CU-T3 friends
  • New cutscenes both for the new chapter and the first one
  • Changing how CU-T3 context menu works, make it less annoying. Like make CU-T3 return from the platform state when you get far away.

Now these are all things that I really wish I'm able to include in the post jam update in some weeks, but the first thing I want to do is some code cleaning of the project. A lot of stuff are hardcoded and I don't really like it, so I probably won't have a lot to share while i fix up these stuff. But i'll try my best.

Thank you for your endless support :) i started working on the update this morning, fixing bugs and adding some QoL and sprites, but i will still have so little time for some weeks :( i'll be slowed down a lot
